Q. Can I work while attending Galen?
A. Many Galen students work while attending our college. However, if you are attending our program on a full-time basis, it is best to work a very minimal amount of hours. Our programs require a considerable amount of time outside the classroom for reading, studying, assignments, etc. You must be very disciplined with your school/study/work time to be successful at Galen if you plan to work while attending.
Q. Do I have to take your pre-admission test even if I have a Bachelor’s Degree?
A. Yes. Unless you have the appropriate ACT, SAT or PAX scores, you will need to take Galen's entrance exam. (See Admission to Galen section.)
Q. Are you accredited?
A. Yes, our institution is nationally accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. We are approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing and are a member agency of both the National League for Nursing and the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing.

Galen has articulation agreements with several colleges and universities to facilitate the acceptance of credits earned at Galen towards advanced nursing degrees. Galen College of Nursing, while fully accredited, does not currently possess the same accreditation as some four-year colleges and universities who offer advanced nursing degrees.

The decision to accept credits from another educational institution is made by the receiving institution and is considered on an individual course basis.
Q. Do you offer student loans?
A. Yes, Federal Financial Aid is available for our students who qualify. Galen’s Financial Planning Coordinators are very experienced and work with each student personally regarding financial needs.
Q. What are Clinical Requirements?
A. Galen’s requirements for clinical experiences are similar to those you will encounter in your career as a nursing professional. All requirements are designed to ensure continuity of patient care, as well as to protect students, healthcare providers, and patients from the manifestation and spread of diseases.

All students are required to provide proof of the following immunizations in order to participate in clinical experiences:
• TB skin test or Chest x-ray
• Tetanus/Diphtheria (Td) strongly recommended, but not required at this time
• Measles (Rubeloa)
• Rubella (German Measles)
• Mumps
• Varicella (Chicken Pox)
• Hepatitis B
• Influenza strongly recommended, but not required at this time.

In addition, students must provide proof of the following in order to participate in clinical experiences:
• Physical examination
• Health history
• Criminal background screening authorization form
• Proof of Health Insurance
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by the American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider.
